It charges in the day time(light "off"), and it discharges at night time(light "on") being used. Every 5 seconds is an hour of usage. Why is every 5 seconds in simulation equivalent to an hour of usage?

Because, it shows how it the battery(capacitor) dies, so you can charge it again without waiting on this simulation for 8 hours just to see it go out.

Oh okay. I honestly thought you were going to build this design with a 4F capacitor. Thanks for clearing that up. Looks good to me.

Why use three transistors? You can do it with two. Is it any better?

@Gingerking-your welcome. Lol. @Dufniall89-Technically you can, but it's a positive output for the LEDs, and the diode for charging the battery is also positive, so I used a third transistor(PNP).

I am missing a correct resistance of a solar panel. Even it would be a big one its not 0 Ohm. Its more in a range of several 100 Ohm. Keep it up!

i have a 2V 250mA panel, does that make it 8Ω

Its a bit oversized ;-) however 2 of them would have already 16Ω

I love this project, but am using 12v240watt panel, how can use it on my security lamp?
