A Question about decoders

Hello guys I've got a question about implementing a 4-16 binary to decimal decoder using four 2-4 binary to decimal decoders, you can use enable inputs. 4-16 decoder can be constructed using 3-8 decoders but how can I do it with 2-4 decoders ???? Thanks for any help.

I don't know how you want to do that, but i think that the best solution is using 7 four-inputs AND (or OR, inverters aren't needed ...) gates and make it !

I mean, if you have four 2-4 decoder and if you wanted 4-16 decoder you didn't have one, what will you do....

With two 2 to 4 decoders you have 8 outputs not 16 so try to make one by yourself

Come on!!! I said four 2-4 decpders

I think he's talking about BCD decoders, so 4-16 means 4 bits in, 16 hexadecimal (7 segment format) output ... So combining four 2-4 is impossible, they'll output only 0, 1, 2 or 3, and not the others hexadecimal numbers

Oh ! I see ! This ( http://everycircuit.com/circuit/6170612903968768) is what you're calling a binary to decimal decoder !

Hope this helps. Unfortunately there are no enable pins, but jn principle you can combine 5 of them to a 4 to 16 decoder http://everycircuit.com/circuit/6014440473362432

Improved @hurz idea to show you the trick for combining decoders http://everycircuit.com/circuit/5795757683638272

Yes, thats more or less the idea behind. Try to use nands instead of inverter plus ands. Or even better find a way from 7seg decoder to have also a inhibit or enable.
