MOSFET Murderer and Spark Maker with 555

A simple 555 driven spark maker thing that will probably violently murder it's MOSFET.
 
Edit: I changed the transformer parameters and added a zener diode to make it less likely to turn the MOSFET into a bomb while still creating large voltages.

Have you read something about how and what a "tesla-coil" is, before doing this circuit?

No, I don't really know much about them, I just figured this would make big sparks similar to a Tesla coil.

Yes, but high voltage sparks itself wasn't even tesla's target. He used sparks as an nonlinear effect. As switch! Sparks are what most people assosiate with Tesla, but actually he just used them to make a even bigger invention he was looking for. Read about, its very interessting. Maybe @WTF from italy can link us some good written stories about.

Anything but not tesla coil. Actually its real function you published is a "mosfet killer".

Tesla coils were used back in the days for lots of things, Tesla himself used them to study high voltage ac electricity and electromagnetic radiation, his goal was to transmit massive amounts of energy wirelessly. Then them were usen to study x-rays since the electron-nuclei interaction in the streamers were strong enough to create them. If you could be interested in tesla coils I suggest you to look at Loneoceans Laboratories, he does a pretty good job at explaining what tesla coils are and how to drive them.

I won't build it, because I have only 1 MOSFET BS170. I don't use it, because I could destroy it too easily

If you do this, the circuit is only a spark generator and NOT a MOSFET killer.
