"Circuits Without a Home" case file 221- I found this curious little fellow a couple days ago in a darkened corner of a seemingly nondescript army surplus store just about halfway between here and Metropolopolis. Everything on the shelf where I found it was caked with dust and appeared as if it had been years since anyone had even passed a moments glance down the dimly lit isle. But a faint shimmering caught my eye- I investigated and found this. I wasn't sure what to make of it at the time, and that compelled me to discover it's true nature. The clerk had no idea about it either, and happily let it go to me for a mere four dollars and some odd cents. I have since run a few experiments but have yet to unlock it's secrets. As far as I can tell there are only two "clues" that could be of any use. Firstly: I believe I have made the thing operational but what it does doesn't make sense. It looks to be a combination of four RTL NOR Gates, but as I adjust the inputs the output signal matches the truth table for an XNOR Gate! I see no reason for this, and I am thoroughly perplexed. The only other clue could be the faint lettering I found on the bottom of the thing. I can tell the letters were marked in red but don't spell any word i'm familiar with. Let's see, there's a T and maybe an O, I'll guess the next one is a P and after that could only be an S. Next is probably E and then a C. It looks like there's room for two or three more letters but they've long since faded away. There has got to be more to this thing I'm sure of it! (KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK) Ah, one moment please, my monitor here is showing a pair of gentlemen at the front door. Curious, they're both wearing identical black suits and sunglasses- salesmen I suppose. I'll go see what they want.....
