Can anyone explain why the voltage decreases forever?

Its a bug.. I have seen this before. It happens if you shortcircuit the output with a capacitor and something else. It tricks the mathematical model of the 555 in to providing constant current which charges the capacitor indefinitely.

The output of the 555 is a costant current source and so it charges directly connected capacitors at infinete voltage
