Dual power supply switched with relay.

I needed a way to keep memory in an in dash head unit at my bench so that I could shut down my large power supply. So I used a very low current power supply and a relay to switch between the two. Though the voltage does drop to zero momentarily while the relay switches the head unit doesn't notice and effectively retains memory. The light represents the head unit.

Add like 4 100uF capacitors to the memory wire (Yellow one, but you knew that already ;) and obviously ground too lol) and it'll hold the memory long enough for a walk from your workbench to your vehicle too :)

Good thinking....yeah I thought that too but had a Bosch relay and some wire so I put it together with what I had on hand. Thanks for the feedback.....gotta love bouncing ideas.
