The base signal is the RF input. The emitter signal is the VFO input. The circuit functions with a low-level RF drive voltage.

Yes, but this only works with AM, you'd need to modify it for DSB

Yes, thanks for your comment. Did you mean SSB rather than DSB? As far as I know dual side band (unsuppressed carrier) is AM. The circuit is intended to work in a direct conversion SSB receiver. I would follow the mixer by a buffer, probably an emitter follower.This would drive into a low pass filter in the audio range of about 0 to 3 KHz. The idea is to just listen on the 7Mz band. Mainly to morse code. I think you were referring to using the mixer in a transmitter where filtering would have to applied to suppress the carrier and one side band. Is that what you were suggesting?
