Full wave rectifier, smoother, zener reference and op amp follower. In practice, the zener and op amp need to be able to handle the current \ power. Note that even a 10W lamp does not affect the output voltage.

If you properly ground the source you will see the actual output

Thanks Rich. Have you tried this? Connecting the source to ground bypasses diodes in the fw rectifier. For the simulation, I tolerated the distorted view of the input from the ac source.

30mV ripple is not to bad, but could be much improved by much lower power consumption. Keep it up.

Thanks hurz. I wanted to demonstrate how the output current did not upset the supply stability.

I have now added a transformer so a 230V supply can be used - with appropriate electrical safety!

But EC opamps perfect and do not draw any current from input. They are pure voltage controled. The power are also coming from a virtual invisible powersupply. So its not a big supprise. You can even increase the bulb power to 1kW..

Thanks again hurz. point taken, but I always have in my mind circuits that could be built and would work within reason in the real world.

The OPAmp breaks the realism. Where are its supply pins drawing power?

the aop. consume DC and they allowed very little noise at feeding pin. AOP a rule are not capable of providing 10 w.

There are some models that if they have power. but they are for audio.

which model you want to use?

the power aop., the frabicante configuration gives guidelines to ensure stability, and do not support this.

Thanks all. I see the futility of using a component that needs its own independent power supply! If a stable 5V is needed, buy a regulator chip!
