Start with switch on left closed to build up charge in power supply filter capacitor. Leave simulator running and open left switch and note remaining charge on capacitor. Capacitor discharge probe is 100 ohm 1 watt resistor connected between ground and top side of 1 mf capacitor. Close switch in probe line and how many seconds to fully discharge capacitor to safely work on circuit. Normal probe line does not have switch but was used here to run in simulation mode. Several capacitors may have to be discharged and voltmeter to verify the charge is completely drained. Proper insulation on probe and voltage is needed.

I just short them on metal things :(

Don't forget the time element to fully discharge.

well the resistance is 0Ω, so discharge time is 0 seconds
