How does current flow when nothing but the battery is attached to ground?

maybe a bad project. Of course, if you think about this circuit in transistor level you will find only inputs voltage vin > 2.5V , the led current will flow through nmos to ground. So left vin=1V, first stage nmos off, out =5V, then second stage nmos on, current flow to ground. If vin=5V, first stage nmos output zero, second stage nmos off, LED off. If only one input, gate stop work, and led off!
