These are called two way switching, and are both the same circuit, just drawn differently.

If this schematic is representing mains live wires (rather than mains earthing) in a hotel mains circuit, then as with any mains: the top part here is correct inasmuch that the two switches are on the live (line) side. The bottom circuit is wrong: The non-high-voltage wire is being switched which can leave high voltage at the lamp here even when the lamp is turned off. The bottom circuit design is illegal for mains wiring UK (and probably most other countries at a guess).
