555 timer IC has a wide application in analog circuits. This circuit generates PWM with a duty cycle which can be adjusted using potentiometer.

Yes....it's a nice astable circuit which shows a good alteration of the pulse width. Normally however, we use the term 'pulse width Modulation' to describe the width being altered for a fixed frequency. Here your frequency alters as well as the pulse width, so I would be cautious of using that term PWM as a description for this....you can still use the circuit to alter pulses in certain situations....,just be wary of using that expression.
