Oh. The only gate I haven't learned much about yet is the OR gate.

Lol.... One of the simplest gates is OR. If one OR the other (or both) input is + then the output is +. Basicly you can create - as an output if both inputs are -. When you turn on the switch, 1st input is +, so output is +, wich is at the same time the other input. You create a loop, wich will be always + no matter of the 1st input.

Yes an OR gate means that if either one input of the other is 1 the output will also be 1. Since you're triggering a 1 on the output and it is fedback to the input it will sort of latch and keep the state indefinitely
