One poultry farmer made a light dimmer system to signal chickens a few minute warning to find their roosts before lights out.
It uses a second bulb of about the same size as a resistance bulb to dim the right bulb which is in the chicken house.

And if you use a normal light dimmer?

If push button off/ on dimmer switch it might be cheaper but I do not know lasting quality if dimmer is exposed to cold temperatures.
