Solar charged battery with switch activated LED. My exam project for circuits. We were restricted on items allowed to be used. 4.9 v is the solar cell, and the 1.2 v rechargable batteries are in series to create a 2.4v push for when the solar cell is cut off by the photo cell. Which in this case is a switch right after the diode. The diode keeps the voltage from ever going to the pos terminal of the solar cell. There was probably an easier way to do this but I was on a time crunch.

Adjusting the battery voltage up until there is no charge going into the batteries is a bit of a tell, If batteries current is allowed to be more than 1mA per voltamp once they reach their float voltage they will have a very short life expectancy.
