Old school motor controller using npn and potentiometer instead of a potentiometer and a 555 timer as a pwm (pulse width modulator). Light represents the motor.

Yes, width, not wave. Thanks, I've forgotten more about electronics than I'd like to admit. And thanks BillyT, you're right, like I said, I've clearly forgotten a few things.

@justinmh, follow the animated bubbles on the wires and see were they go. For a bipolar transistor most current is passing emitter to collector. But this is in your setup not possibile, cuz the collector resistor is much to high. Hope i refreshed a little 😋
