DC soft start for AC motor

Soft starter. A 5VDC control circuit and a 220VAC power circuit for a 200v/350w bulb which is there for to simulate a very common 1/5 hp motor.

I dont know why, one i put the ac power source the oscilloscipe cut to a 200ms max timescale and the ac circuit looks gray.

You have to put an earth on the AC side also. 220Vrms is 311Vpeak. Relays pull in Voltage is nominally 50% of the relays rated Voltage, the drop out Voltage is nominally 40% of the relays rated Voltage. A good beta for the first transistor would be 350, and 250 for the second transistor. Play with the charge and drain resistors to get the timing you need. http://everycircuit.com/circuit/5305918187896832
