When you close the slide switch, of course, the current flows from the battery through the slide switch, lamp, motor, and back to the battery. When the press switch is closed, the lamp is off and the motor speed increase. The principle of removing the resistance to increase motor speeds is only one way of charging the speed of motor.

I don't know why when press the switch then release it will burn the lamp for a while... Is it a glitch or what?
