Ok so I believe this version is stable enough to be a framework of the upcoming power supplies New features: •Low Pass Filter to smoothen ripple •9V Regulator Improved •Current Limiting introduced!! Upcoming Features: •Short circuit/ Component failure protection •More efficiency Input: 60Hz 120VAC Outputs: 9V @ 1A Suggestions appreciated!

Wait until it charges at 9.26V and then connect the load, around <2 Seconds of charge time.

As you say, it can be used as the basis for a future power supply, unfortunately when I increased the load to 9 Ohms the output dropped to < 6V, and looking at the circuit, there appears to be to many components in the power rails, there should only be the filter choke and the regulation device, all the other filtering and foldback components should control the regulation device. Also the zener resistor seems far too large, remember that there has to enough current through it to get into the zeners regulation zone and enough current X the transistors gains to give the desired output.

@BillyT I agree, I kinda hate how so much work went into this. I have abandoned this series for now. I'll be focusing on switching mode power supplies, which have several voltage ranges and normally dont loose as much power like such power supply like this. So far I have had some success with these power supplies and they are around 100 times faster than this power supply. Im looking forward to finish it.

I took the two resistors out of the filter and adjusted the zener circuit and it seems to be more effective, you will need to adjust the rest of the circuit to fully achieve what you want to do. http://everycircuit.com/circuit/5776580873027584
