TRIAC wattage controller

Change the variable resistor(pot.) from 1%(higher wattage) to 99%(lower wattage). It reduces the wattage by cuting the ac waves instead of reducing voltage drop(voltage waste and expensive high-wattage parts). In real life, there is reverse current traveling though the Triac transistors, so you would use diodes for both directions.

a fife layer semiconductor device. one layer too much imo. That's curious but Thyristors are the only one semiconductor devices whose posses something called "fault proof and rugged". all other silicon magic wonders like mos, igbt's etc etc are not fault proof at all. i design thyristor circuits and maintain such for long time and i saw broken one maybe 3 or 4 times and always it was because of ultimate catastrophic fail of some other device (like short in HV cap that causes arc whose meltdown all thing around into boiling plasma lol) and during this time i saw tons of dead triacs igbt's or especially power mos transistors on whose i bet for worst silicon wonder developed ever cuz to drive stupid transistor at 50khz we need a tons of driver ic's and other stuff whose deal with all those poor flaws that mos posses and whose market spec's try to hide or derate as not important.

Hey Volte, you probably noticed it does give you only 50% control power. Use a phaseshifting cap 1.67uF from center of the potentiometer to ground and you get the full range. Have fun.
