You need 875k resistor.

I see no problem. AC swings from positive to negative each time passing the 0V. In real life (speaking of mains) the swing between positive and negative happens at 60 times per second (60Hz) which would be high enough to keep the lamp from cooling thus keeping it always on. In EC all of this happens in a higher time frame whixh enables you to see it but that doesn't mean this is the real deal. Hope i explained it well enough.

Ah yes you need to limit the current too. Increase the resistor to 875k as BenDarevan said
