Here is simple DC short circuit protection circuit.Light blub is a load.Red led indicate  short circuit.tap the sw near blub to short load and connection will cut of and red led will glow.to reset load tap sw near battery.thanks.mail:pollobsharma@gmail.com

This will not work. After the internal resistance of the dc source is added, there will not be enought voltage to operate the relay.
