Automotive - Linear CAN Bus Connection

A message can be sent over a CAN (Controller Area Network) bus in digital protocal.  CAN high is shown in blue and CAN low is shown in green.

Data sent on the bus can be received by all ECU's ( Electronic Control Units).

Star, Ring, and Linear can connect control units together.  Note Linear connection needs terminating resistors at ends of bus to keep sent data from reflecting back as echoes and corrupting data on the bus.

Other types of buses can be used and at high and low speeds.
