I am using a switch to represent the mic (switch on represents the mic picking up sound signal and converting it into voltage level)

The switch itself makes a short-circuit across the power supply. ;)

Are you sure you want negative voltage at the anode of your LEDs?

http://everycircuit.com/circuit/5708074655154176 it is better use a pot instead of a switch to simulate a mic (based on resistance)
