If the amplitude of the PWM wave is A and the duty cycle is DC% the amplitude of the voltage after the low pass filter is: V=AxDC%. The higher the carrier frequency of the PWM wave, the more effective the LP filter is to reduce output ripple and to respond faster to duty cycle changes. To see these effects, use the separate simple LP filter on the left by varying the DC% manually at the square wave source.
