Two S-R Latches. The top one is implemented using an IC and the bottom one uses NOR gates.

As the leds in the bottom circuit are in parallel, each needs its own resistor otherwise the current gets cut in half.

I’m not sure I fully understand, @wyoelk. I tried adding resistors to each LED in the bottom circuit and the current was the same. The only thing that changed was that both LEDs would light up when both inputs were high, but that’s considered an invalid state. Also, adding resistors to each LED in the top circuit had no effect. I’m still learning, so apologies if I’m missing something obvious.
