With a comparator the lamp does not turn on softly like you see in the most timer circuits. This allows you to switch bigger loads without risking to cook the MOSFET.

Need to use timer to cook eggs, not to measure how long it takes the cooker to cool 😎 down after thr eggs are cooked.
