People like the single way rectification as long its for a dual voltage supply. But they do not like it if its a single voltage supply, why? Why not using two times a full rectification for both voltages? One for positive one for negative.

In not sure why people favor one over the other. This one is configured this way for simplicity. It looks cleaner here in EC, too.

Does it need to be that expensive hurz? Center tap and second bridge seems redundant.

@rich, keep in mind that positive rail is in relation to the negative one in your example too much. What you try to do is beside regulating two voltages, its also a single voltage split to two voltages. Check your zero volt reference which is floating.
