NPN vs PNP Transistors

NPN Transistor= base(+), collector(+), emitter(-) PNP Transistor= base(-), collector(-), emitter(+) 10k ohm (higher resistance) on base to limit current of the transistor in both circuits. *im trying to understand how to use transistors Please add any comparisons/insight in comments to help us learn! Both resistors would be known as pull down resistors right?
