Convert ac 220v to dc and step down voltage

Good start, time to add a capacitor, because it is not a heavy load the capacitor only needs to be small. 220Vac is 311V peak. Here is the circuit redrawn to make it easier to understand, the transformer needed to be readjusted to give the 20V output again. http://everycircuit.com/circuit/5445729254637568

PS, I would put the earth point on the negative rail, whatever point that is in the circuit.
