Dear Friends, With the package of Electricity also comes Dangers associated with it. To decrease these dangers many devices are invented. Today we will learn how these life and material saving devices work- Basic principle of working. There are wide variety of circuit breakers are available in the market like RCCB,MCB, MCCB,RCBO,ELCB etc. The very basic working of these devices are to trip. Trip means open the circuit and stop the flow of current into the circuit. Explanation of the circuit is as follows : Assume - Relay : safety device. There are 2 switches in the circuits. Top switch is to switch on or switch off the lamps. But closing the bottom switch acts as a short circuit ( refer circuit) . By closing the bottom switch we can see that the Relay( circuit breaker) trips and breaks the circuit and stops the flow the current flow. This decreases the danger of electric shock and electrosuction. Simulate the circuit and close the Top switch to operate normally. Close bottom switch to short circuit and understand the tripping. This is how the safety circuit breaker works - just break the circuit and current flow automatically breaks. Note: " This circuit is only for understanding the very basic working principle of the circuit breakers " . Regards, Happy learning.
