Joule thief reverse forward LED

See what's the difference between these two joule thief circuits. The blue LED is a forward parallel from the transistor and the red LED is a reverse feedback parallel to the coil. Which one is better? Is the upper blue LED or the lower red LED or either? Comment if you know...

In both cases the led is powered by the voltage spike created by the coil however the blue led is powered by the coil and the battery because they are in series so I think it will be slightly brighter.

Thanks! That does makes sense. The red LED is only powered by the collapsing field of the coil, and the blue is powered at the minimum of 1V from the battery.
