A chicken door controller that uses CMOS ICs allowing voltages 5v to 15v. This should run on solar power.
I'm going to use a geared 30-60 rpm low power high torque DC motor to pull up the door which will close the top N.O. window alarm switch when open and bottom when closed and locked.
The photo resistor section is represented by just a potentiometer top left corner (adjust to simulate day or night) and the geared DC motor is represented by LEDs on the right (yellow is day up direction) driven by 2 555s in a super simple H Bridge configuration (drives up to 200ma).
For future functionality I will add a double pole double throw switch (ON-OFF-ON) at the photo resistor to manually open and close the door if needed, with red Led to show it is in manual mode.
Since I have 3 spare Schmitt trigger NOT gates (74HC14) I will wire them as a Water Level Detector. And 1 spare Schmitt trigger NAND gate (74HC134) which I will wire as a Feed Low Detector using a window alarm switch --- with associated LEDs and resistors.
I may use 2 of the water level NOT gates to make a delay timer to add an hour delay before opening and 30 minutes before closing the door. I will connect the output of the photo resistors to my Long Delay circuit using the spare Schmitt trigger NOT gates instead of the 555.
(I have posted all of my circuits)
This whole thing should be built for under $35 including motor and gear - eBay and free shipping. Enjoy
