The left transistor sets a reference current on its resistor Iref = (6-0.766-0)/1k =5.23mA. This current is set in the right circuit and the voltages change so that the Iref can flow. i.e. 3.87V. The right transistor follows the left transistor because they have the same V(BE). set by the left resistor.

I always prefer to set up one single DC source: that the real world. It woul be more realistic if the 6v sorce pulls from the 9v via a voltage divider. Though you have to rethink the transistor biasing to take in account the new resistances
