Make: Electronics Second Edition Chapter 4 / Experiment 17 Play around with the potentiometer. If you increase the capacitance of C, the timing capacitor, you will increase the frequency. Adding a potentiometer of the control pin of a 555 timer in astable mode allows the modulation of the square wave. The diode is used for discharging the C timing capacitor through only one resistor, while charging happens through the other resistor. The orange line is the square wave. The blue line is the voltage of the control pin, this is further connected to the comparator B in the 555 timer. The green line is the voltage of the trigger pin.
