Trying to show the most simplest, straightforward, easy to follow layout. EC default values except voltage to represent dead battery. Seen many other joules thief here, just some are starting to look sophisticated and moving away from the minimalist nature of the design, maybe they are improvements ;)

Just one thing. You might want to add a 1Ohm resistor as internal battery resistance. Nice circuit.

Thanks mate I tried the 1ohm in series with the voltage source, more of a accurate representative of a battery yes
