Thanks for the comments guys. You are absolutely right that this circuit is probably over engineered. However, I wanted to design a reliable safety switch that could prevent accidental triggering by operators or toddlers. My goal was to have a longer time delay (2-3) seconds, to trigger the output after said delay and not on a falling/raising edge, finally to reset the timer instantly if the button were to be released too early to prevent rapid button mashing from triggering the output. Think of it as how you perform a hard shut down on a PS3

Take a look at your speed configuration, Lenny beleaves you have made some calculations, i m mot so sure if you did, cuz everything runs in a 1ms/s timescale, so if you press a key for one second its actually just a millisecond in a real circuit !!! Please does this circuit work practically?

@Laadi, I never paid any attention to the timescale of the simulation, and I know it doesn't even come close to real-time, but calculating RC to get the timing correctly shouldn't be a big problem. And to be honest, I haven't tried this circuit out yet, but I plan on doing it in the near future.
