You just simulate the good effect replacing DC source with AC having direct component 16vdc and amplitude what you want (-1 +1 for example) and frequency 50 or 60 Hz

Yes, it's made for this! Over 40 years ago the first power supply I built using only 2N1711 and 2N3055 had this type of stabilization circuit.
