It does work as built. A couple of things I noticed are the diode and capacitor by the switch can be removed and don't seem to affect the performance. Also nothing is connecting pin3 to the led, a current limiting resistor of around 100ohms. And maybe a NC switch in place of the toggle switch would make it easier to trigger the Monostable circuit.
