Start stop of a small DC motor. After the stop, cinetic Energy is dissipated on a breaking resistor. The 12 volt lamp indicate when The motor is Fed by The main. The motor is Fed when The normally open open contact is pushed once and stopped by pushing The normally closed one. Big motor requires a starting resistor to avoid eccessive overcurrent at startup.
