555 Astable - not working correclty

this is supposed to include the gizards for a 555 chip

Could not get this to work  properly 

The circuit was as close as I can get to my 555 saw tooth  AND there appears to be a square wave at spots but I  can't make my LED blink

 Cant' find solution  -  open some of the switches  - run - close the switches - it then runs

I also found wit the solution below that my nor gates do NOT work correctly  and in the solution a flip flop chip is used

 Replaced the capacitor with a two way switch at the trigger and can use that to switch the bottom comparator.  Not a solution just an observation.
