Amplification adjustable from 0...80dB, for almost any sources, ranging from capactive pickups of vintage record players to dynamic microphones. Very low noise. Use a neg log potentiometer. 
The switch is for simulation only, because the potentiometer of the simulator can only do 1...99%.
