Controlling a 7-segment display that requires 9v, with low powered inputs (an Arduino in my case: 5v)

common collector configuration the emitter does follow the base voltage - 0.7Vbe so 5V minus 0.7V is about 4.3V doesn't matter you have connected 9V at collector. You can even connect 12 oder 24V. It will be always in this configuration 4.3V at the emitter!

Hmm. not what I need then. I have a large 7-segment display that has 4 LEDs per segment with a 2V voltage draw each. so each segment needs 8V. Is there a better way to do this? Do I have to swap the Base and the Collector?

Oh. I think I need the load before the transistor. right? I'll reconfigure it.

oh. Doesn't look like I can wire a 7-seg like that in EC. Unless I'm missing something?

Question, is your LED a common anode or cathode? Everycircuit only supports common cathode.

The 7-segment display is common anode. Even though I couldn't wire it up on EC, I was able to get it working on the breadboard. Thanks for your help!
