Calculation for Uxcell FeCrAl Heating Element Coil Wire, 1.2mm thick, 7.2mm Coil Diameter, with rated Voltage/Power of 220V / 3000W for an 800mm coil. (16.13 ohms per 800 mm coil.) 1 1/2 coils can be connected in series to make a coil of 24.2 ohms, then two 24.2 ohm coils can be connected in parallel to produce 12.8 equivalent ohms, pulling 19.8 amps of current at 240 volts, providing 4752 Watts of heating power. This should be suitable for most metal heat treating and some metal melting (e.g., it should easily melt aluminum).
Keeping the Element Surface Load low is particularly important when inserting the coil into channels carved into the fire brick of an oven, a common approach in home-made ovens. This configuration yields 2.64 W/cm^2, which is safe for FeCrAl wire up to 1300 degrees C (2370 degrees F).
When the coils are stretched so that the coil pitch is 2x the wire diameter, they will fit into a oven with an internal volume of 12" wide x 12" deep x 12" high with 6 rows of coils on each of the two side walls. The fit would be even easier in a deeper oven, say 15". Three coils available at this writing for $17.89 USD from Amazon.com: https://smile.amazon.com/uxcell-Heating-Element-AC220V-Furnace/dp/B07L85NKS1/ref=pd_di_sccai_1/138-1041531-9505828?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07L85NKS1&pd_rd_r=cbba882d-ef5f-4420-9ab5-0e2e21581ef8&pd_rd_w=R7ihX&pd_rd_wg=Ue0Oi&pf_rd_p=5415687b-2c9d-46da-88a4-bbcfe8e07f3c&pf_rd_r=W16KY3JXS0KN5GQEEWSJ&psc=1&refRID=W16KY3JXS0KN5GQEEWSJ
