This circuit measures the DC current of a circuit and switches the circuit off in the case of an overload.
A combination of a RC network and schmitt trigger will then periodically switch the circuit back on, to test if the overload has disappeared.
By adjusting the RC network you can adjust the duty cycle and frequency of the circuit, and thus the application.
