Why is this voltage supply shorted? In my notes that I took during class, I have this exact circuit down and it apparently works on paper. Why doesn't it work here?

Unfortunately the coils in EC have no resistance, place a small value resistor (even 1 Ohm) in series with the inductor to fix this problem.

Use a 1 micro ohm resistance in the inductive branch and see the result . Because practically there is no such pure inductance in this world each inductance has some ohmic value that's why ur ckt get short ckted.
