A Current Mode Boost Converter uses the ramp signal generated by the inductor current to create a PWM signal to control the switching MOSFET, unlike the conventional circuits that use a seperate ramp oscillator. Although this is less intuitive, switch current sensing and limiting is inherently done and a seperate current limiting circuit is not needed.
