Increase the generator to 220Vrms and set it to 311Vpeak. The 12kOhm resistor is actually a protection resistor and should be not used to burn power. With 311V it burns more than 1.5W which is to much for a little LED. This resistor can be much smaller e.g. 1k and results then in less then 1/4Watt but still protects against overcurrent while power on. Keep it up.
