Vin AC, Vout(x2 Vin). This circuit is derived from a excerpt from a Radio Shack engineers notebook. Based on "Bridge voltage doubler" I attempted to make the circuit with one ground, and LEDs, instead of lamps and as a closed circuit. However, with applied 4.5v power and each LED 1.5v, I fail to see how it doubles, so I incorrectly named it What it does seem to do is arranges imbalance one to two ratio heading to the LEDs, and if were battery, probably halves life of the usage period..- nforystek

Is not a voltage doubler, it is some type of a bridge divider. http://everycircuit.com/circuit/5530053897879552
