PCM Pulse-Code Modulation
The analogue signal on the left is fed into the analogue to digital converter and sampled at the clock frequency. The ADC, outputs the sampled value in HEX. The HEX coded values are then transmitted (via various means) to a digital to analogue converter, which outputs an approximation of the original analogue signal. The fidelity of the output is dependent on the ADC clock frequency.
